We have already discussed that for the use of radio over a significant range, one has to apply to WPC for a license to use Professional Radios in commercial band, unlike “License Free Radio”, where people are free to increase the throughput of the Radio device (increasing RF power output) as per their need & purpose of their communication. According to the guidelines of WPC, the maximum allowable RF power output limit of a base station is 25 watts, and for a repeater is 50 watts practically it is equivalent to a range of 80 to 90 km maximum, for a point-to-point VHF/UHF communication.
But, still, there are some special demands or requirements from a customer segment, beyond the above limitation. Those special demands can also be served or satisfied for that elite society by the introduction of the PoC radio system. This communication system is the result of the integration of a Public Mobile LTE/4G network with moderately distant VHF & and UHF communication systems. Basically, due to NO practical limitation (geographical boundaries) of Communication range in SIM-based public networks, PoC subscribers can enjoy the beauty of instant communication (within individuals or groups), with a limitless communication range.
In Addition, a PoC Radio Subscriber need not approach WPC for any type of radio license, or spectrum charges, rather it will be taken care of by the respective LTE/4G network operator. PoC subscribers are required to pay a recurring charge for respective SIM cards of individual radios plus yearly Server Charges to Run the administrative platform of the PoC system.
Depending on the mode of usage, Sanchar Communication Systems supplies and Manufactures PoC radios in two different forms,
1. Portable PoC radio and
2. Fixed PoC radios. Following is the only fixed model PoC radio: SCM-760S and Portable PoC radios are:
